I had the opportunity today to be at the annual Gartner CRM Summit during the official launch of myCRMcareer.com. Now that I’m past the media sound bites and reviewing the site first-hand, it’s clear to me that this online tool is much more than just a career-minded community portal. I believe this site is an early indicator of the verticalization about to be applied to Web 2.0. Providing an industry specific forum for like-minded professionals with common interests, vested interests and blurred professional/personal interests creates the setting for focused, relevant and very meaningful aggregation of user generated content. The variety of social media tools (blog posts, podcasts, video, bookmarks, etc.) will certainly add a dimension to a long standing CRM community that has always been short on communication styles. While the career channeling is a logical place to start, the underlying concept that powers the community has far reaching tentacles which I only wish I could predict. I’m looking forward to this community’s journey.

Thanks for the response comment. FYI, I attended the Web 2.0 seminar you (and Paul) lead in Naples a few months ago. That seminar was instrumental in helping me merge Web 2.0 theory into a business model that I hope will yield more engaging and meaningful client relationships. These tools, technologies and methods are definitely one of the more interesting roads on our journey.
You're very welcome
Thanks again for the good words. It all came together at that Naples session -- a great room full of folks and a helluva venue. Maybe need to do a "Social Media 201" course there in '08! :-)
Absolutely on point
You are definitely in synch with what the CRM industry needs. Great observations.
Cheers!
